Raw Dog Food Recipe
Raw dog food recipes are the very best way for your dog to eat a natural diet.
Dogs are born hunters. However they have obviously had their hunting needs taken away from them as they became domesticated, with owners placing bowls of food out everyday – there is no need for a dog to hunt for raw meat anymore.
Unfortunately many owners do not realize what a dog’s natural diet should be. That is why raw dog food recipes come into importance.
Dogs need raw food to maintain their natural health. Out in the wild, dogs kill other animals and eat their raw meat. There is no cooking or factory manufacturing as is seen in dog food today. And there is certainly no left over dinners – something many owners are guilty of indulging their dogs in!
This advice applies to cats as well. Cats are predators in the same way that dogs are and therefore are made for a raw food diet.
A simple raw dog food recipe would consist of raw meat, vegetable puree, some cooked whole grains, kelp powder, ascorbic acid and around 1 teaspoon of oil (don’t go overboard on the oil).
This recipe will provide your dog with a huge amount of health benefits such as increased energy, a healthy digestive and immune system, cleaner teeth and gums, healthier skin and coat and smoother stool motions.
On top of all this, your dog will be delighted to be receiving food that is in tune with his natural diet. Dogs were MADE to eat raw food. Giving your dog cooked and manufactured food all the time is doing him a great disservice to his health and happiness.
Do your dog a favor and start putting together some raw dog food recipes for him to enjoy! He will thank you for it and will live a longer healthier life with you!

A Review of Life’s Abundance Dog Food
Is Life’s Abundance Dog Food the nutritional solution for your dog? Well, if you can, I always recommend preparing home-cooked meals for your dog. It’s really the only way you know what’s going into their body. My wife makes all our bread and pasta because she knows what she puts into it. But lets face it. We don’t have time to cook everyday for ourselves or our pets. We have to rely on processed foods from time to time. So what about Life’s Abundance?
What About The Taste?
No matter how Life’s Abundance dog food is, if your dog doesn’t like, he or she just won’t eat it. According to some reports, dogs seem to love the taste. You can visit our site to learn how to get trials and coupons. Or maybe your pet store offers sample packs. Buying a big bag could be a waste if your dog doesn’t like it so be sure to try it out first if you can.
What About the Ingredients?
Life’s Abundance dog food uses human quality food. A lot of commercial dog food uses meat by-products, which is essentially everything but the meat. Sadly, pet food is often made of the rejects from plants that process foods for humans. Life’s Abundance does not do this.
Is It Safe?
Remember the dreaded pet food recall a while back. You will be happy to know that LA was not on that list.
What About The Protein and Carbs?
A lot of dog food uses corn and wheat as fillers and there is very little real meat protein. Life’s Abundance does not use corn and wheat. Rather, there is real meat protein from real meat, not meat by-products.
The downside of Life’s Abundance Dog Food is the price. It is more expensive than other brands. However, a healthier dog is happier, has more energy and visits the vet less. So it could all equal out in the end. This brand is a safe choice as far as commercial dog food is concerned.
Home Cooked Food vs Processed Commercial Food
Having said everything above, I would like to point out that processed commercial dog food is what it is. It’s still not natural and home-cooked. Anything closer to the raw side of the raw-processed continuum is healthier and safer. Though I think it’s safe to say that there are some processed commercial dog foods that are much better than others. Life’s Abundance falls in the “safer” and “healthier” categories.
However, when you can, it is always advisable to prepare your dog’s food on your own. It’s easy and not so time-consuming and we offer recipes you can use.

Homemade Dog Food
My two Vizsla hunting dogs get homemade dog food twice each day. I mix an adjusted amount with good quality dry kibble.
Homemade dog food can be better than some commercial products. We don’t realize what’s in the food we give our pets. Always inspect the ingredients.
Commercial dog foods can contain preservatives, and are altered by chemical processes that can be unhealthy for dogs. They can also contain processed unknown animal products and fillers that do nothing to contribute to your pet’s health.
To avoid your dogs ingesting unknown dog food ingredients, make your own. Control not only the content, but the quality as well.

2. Starch: Most forms are okay – cooked pasta, potatoes, and rice are common choices for homemade dog food.
3. Vegetables: Most types can be used. Do not use onions as they can be toxic. Cook the vegetables – raw veggies can pose a choking hazard.

How to Choose an All Natural Homemade Dog Food
With so many issues about commercial dog food, more and more pet owners are now switching to all natural homemade dog food. Homemade dog food is not only safe but also healthy. Choosing and preparing your own dog food are relatively easy if you know how. Here are some useful tips:
Before switching to all natural homemade dog food, it is best to consult your vet and get some advice. You also have to understand the healthy diet requirements of dogs with regards to their breeds, age and other factors. Generally, dogs need 40% protein, 30% starch and 30% fiber.
Slowly switch to all natural homemade dog food. A sudden change in your dog’s diet may result to an upset stomach and other digestive problems.
Choose healthy fresh lean meat for your dog. Meat is the basic component of protein requirements of your dog. An all natural homemade dog food may contain lean meat like turkey, chicken, beef and fish. Kidney, liver and other organ meat are also good for your dog. Cook the meat before feeding it to your dog. Although dogs are carnivores, it is best to cook meat to kill the bacteria that may cause health problems to your dog.
Another source of all natural homemade dog food is the addition of vegetables to your dogs’ diet. Vegetables act as antioxidants and a good source of nutrients and vitamins. You can add cooked corn, squash, peas and potatoes. Raw carrots and lettuce are also good for your dog.
You also have to make sure that your dog is well hydrated and there is plenty of water available for your dog. Avoid feeding your dog with table scraps; it is not a good habit to teach your dog to eat leftovers.
Switching to all natural homemade dog food is not only cheap but it also ensures your dog’s health and safety.
